BUDGET FRIENDLY BEAUTY PRODUCTS + MY FAVOURITE DUPES

The normal train of thought when it comes to makeup or any other beauty product is that expensive = better quality. While I won’t deny that I love to splurge on high-end products every so often (aka more often than I’d like to admit), unfortunately my bank account won’t allow me to have every product in my make up bag costing as much as a nice pair of jeans. I’ve managed to discover some amaaazing dupes and bargains over the years, which I thought I’d share with those of you who are looking to save a few £!

The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops, £10

I am super pale most of the year (except the odd time when I’ll make the effort to fake tan), so a lot of foundations are simply too dark for me. These drops are a literal life-saver when I’m looking particularly pasty and I don’t want my face to be a completely different colour to my neck!

L’Oreal True Match Foundation, £9.99

This was my favourite foundation for so many years, and I’d completely forgotten about it until recently. It is one of the only foundations that comes in a shade pale enough for me, and I love the consistency of it as well! It has really amazing coverage whilst still feeling lightweight on my skin. The only downfall is that it doesn’t last as long as some of my other foundations, but this only really matters if I’m planning on wearing makeup for hours and hours.

Value Makers Eyeshadow Palette, around £12

This one is a serious dupe and probably my favourite item in this post. I’m not even kidding, I have compared this with the actual Morphe Palette and in terms of quality, I can’t tell the difference. The only difference I could spot was the price. The Value Makers Palette is almost half the price of the Morphe one. I bought this palette from Amazon not expecting much from it, but have been seriously impressed. The eyeshadows are amazing colours and are some of the most pigmented shadows I have ever come across.

NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick, £7

Having followed Kylie Jenner since the start of her lip kit career, I’ve always lusted after her liquid lipsticks and wanted to have one of my own. But unfortunately, I don’t just have £22 along with whatever crazy customs charge I may or may not get, so I opted for the NYX liquid lipsticks! I’ve been so happy with these (and have even been able to compare them with a friend’s Kylie Lip Kit) – they last for so long without budging and the colours are fab! Being a matte shade, they can be quite drying, but I’ve never found it to be a massive problem.

I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Blusher, £4.99

When I first saw this in Superdrug, I got super excited because I thought they were finally selling Too Faced products. I’d wanted the Too Faced Sweethearts blush for ages, so it seemed like a no brainer to buy this blusher (which is basically identical!). I love the fact that it’s shimmery because it allows you to skip the highlighter stage if you’re rushed for time, or just adds an extra glow if you want to use both!

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette, £9.99

I bought this when the whole ‘highlight your face until you glow in the dark’ craze was just getting started. It’s so amazing because its so cheap but such good quality – you can apply a small amount just to make yourself a bit more radiant, or go all out and really build it up to get that glow that every instagram makeup artist seems to love!

Argan Oil of Morocco Oil, £6.99

This is, hands down, the best product I have ever used on my hair. I’m lucky in that my hair is quite soft anyway, but I swear it has reached new levels of shine and softness after using this oil. I just rub a bit into the ends of my hair when it’s still damp and it stays soft for days after. I used it when I had dyed the ends of my hair and it really did keep them from feeling frazzled and dead.

  1. Sleek and NYX are two of my favourite drugstore brands! Although I do like to splash out on the occasional high end makeup, it’s great to know that there are some great products out there at such affordable prices for everyone!

  2. Love every product here! Such good stuff that’s actually affordable. I’m obsessed with my sleek solstice palette. It gives so much glow and the lavender is so unique. Definitely want to give the Loreal foundation a try. Mines a bit pricey so I’m looking for one that’s just as good but won’t make me skint! xx

  3. Loved this, thanks for a good read! So helpful as my make up bag needs a bit (more) updating! I love the NYX Lingerie range too, I find them much less dry on the lips to the Kylie Jenner lip colours I have. On the back of this article I’m going to order the eye palette, that looks amazing and I’m desperate for some new nude eye colours! Thanks for a fab read!

  4. I’ve been looking for a new everyday lightweight foundation for when I don’t want to wear such a full coverage and heavy one – definitely going to try out the L’Oreal true match!

  5. Whenever I try to go in to get the heart blushers they are always out of stock of the one I want. Because they are always out of stock, I assumed they were good, and reading this has made my mind up even more. I’m going to try these as soon as I get my hands on them.

  9. I like the L’Oreal foundations, I’ve tried True Match foundation before and it offers good coverage and a great colour match. And I have to try that argan oil- I’ve tried other products from that range and liked them so it’s definitely worth trying!
